United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The Mathews Chapel Unit of United Methodist Women meets following worship in January and February and at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the months of March, April, May, June, September, October and November. A Salad Supper Book Club meeting is held during the summer. The book is chosen from the UMW Reading Program.

UMW members and anyone in the congregation are encouraged to read books on the Reading List, as well as, Response and New Worldlook magazines. The books are housed in the Truehelpers classroom and the magazines are on the mailbox table in the fellowship hall.

We work together to provide items for Layette and Birthing Kits.

There are many opportunities to participate in District and Conference UMW Programs.

Our pledges, World Thank Offering, and the Call to Prayer and Self-Denial Offering support United Methodist Women's projects around the world.

All women of the congregation are welcome to join UMW.
